We have already spoken many times about how important is for you to also know how to cook. It’s not something absolutely essential, but it’s always a great skill to have in hand. In the end, it’s one more reason for girls to feel more attracted to you. And, guys, it’s easier than you imagine!
In the past I’ve written about, among others, my very own Tiramisu recipe or the way to make the traditional German Glühwein. And finally, the last time I explained you how to cook a delicious Hungarian Goulash (Pörkölt.) This time I’ll share with you what is universally accepted as the best compliment for Goulash: Spätzle.
Originating in Central Europe and becoming widespread in the 19th century, Spätzle are a special kind of noodle, made out of flour, eggs, salt as well as water. It’s best served with stew or some thick pasta sauce, though many people have them just with lentils or some other vegetables. My recommendation is for you to serve them with Pörkölt.
The recipe serves four persons. The ingredients you’ll need are:
• Five medium sized eggs
• 500 g of flour
• Salt
• Water
Simple, right? If you want to serve more persons, take one more egg per 100g of flour.
Once you get all these ingredients, the instructions you got to take are the following:
1- Break the five eggs and shake them for a few seconds, then throw them in a bowl.
2- Put the flour in the same bowl and start mixing it together with the eggs.
3- Add salt and keep mixing the eggs and flour, preferably with a wooden spoon and in a circular fashion.
4- The mix must be hard, but it should also be humid. Add some water to make it more humid if you feel it’s too dry. Usually one full cup would do the job.
5- Keep mixing the ingredients for five minutes and then the dough is ready.
6- Take part of the mix out and make a 1/2cm layer on a cooking tablet. Then cut the dough in the fashion you’ll want the spätzle to be.
7- Throw the raw spätzle in a pot with boiling water.
8- Once the spätzle float means they are ready, so remove them and place them in another pot with cold water.
9- Repeat steps six to eight as many times as necessary.
Mix with the sauce you want to and enjoy your meal!
