How to Tell Anecdotes and Stories

How and Why You Have to Become a Great Storyteller

When with friends or in a crowd, successfully telling an anecdote or a story is a great way for you to stand out. It’s a possibility for you to increase your value and show how worthy you are. When you are telling a story you will be the center of attention – It’s the moment for you to unleash all your charisma and focus on attracting women and friends. Showing this skill, along with consistent dominance and persuasion throughout your narration will make you not only a more interesting personality but also a sex worthy man. Therefore, telling anecdotes and stories is a great skill to have, necessary for all of you who want to date beautiful women.

When to tell a story

In a barbecue with friends, in the bus or in a date, it’s always a great moment to tell an anecdote. For formal and informal situations, you can always have one story under your sleeve. You can use these narrations either to further explain a point or, if not, just to give a bit more of fun and charm to the moment. For example, imagine you are on a date and your girl asks you to tell her a story of yours. In those moments you’ll have to make it a killer app, taking advantage of the moment and unleashing all of your skill. Not long will pass before your friends will ask you to speak more and more frequently.

It’s easy to stand out by being a great storyteller and a totally positive way of doing so. But be careful with your timing, don’t abuse – When going to tell a story, draw your audience in, whether they are hundreds or just one person.

What to tell

Once you draw your audience in, the time comes to deliver your very best stories. No less, the anecdotes you’ll tell must be interesting, appealing and should be chosen carefully. Not everything that happened in your life will look exciting, so be careful about what you will say. Once you have an appealing story to tell, go ahead and decorate it. Slight exaggerations are a fantastic way of doing that. So is to tell the story in a way it matches the profile, intelligence and experience of those who are hearing. I recommend you to have different variations of the same plot to choose from, always depending on who is the one you are telling the story to.

Think about at least ten stories and start practicing them. Think which parts might be boring and could be left out, but also keep in mind what you could do to add cockiness and charm into what you are saying. Make sure your anecdotes show the very best of you: adventurous situations, you doing something crazy or just plainly demonstrating one of your positive sides. That will give you further value.

How to tell

The great storyteller is the one who makes a great moment out of a basic, normal story. Is the one who puts charisma and magic into what could be just another narration. You got to deliver your very best – Here’s where the real skill comes into play. Once you got the best stories and an audience willing to listen, you can’t let them down. You have to appeal to your audience’s emotion, drawing them deep into your tale. Stand out with funny, entertaining and romantic passages, always in the hunt of the emotional edge.

Your voice is a mighty tool, so take the most advantage of it. Vary your tone and rhythm, make pauses and speed up. Be loud if you have to and always show you are in control of the situation. Stop and make questions, keep the audience in. Speaking, like any other skill, needs a lot of practice to polish. Make the most of your speaking by practicing in front of a mirror, with a recorder or in whatever way you may feel comfortable with. But do it! Check videos of great storytellers and see how they use their voice, when they pause and how they interact with their audience. Copy and learn from these masters.

Never try to memorize the stories word by word – It’s not worth it. Instead, picture the situations and what you are going to say in your head. That will make the story progress in a more natural way. Also, it will make each time you tell the stories unique, as never will you tell the story in the same way twice. Still, be sure to analyze in which points you could improve and what could be changed. Remember to give as much detail as you can too. The more detail, the more real the story will look like and the easier will be for the audience to picture it too.

Non Verbal Skill

When telling a story you got to make the most of your body language too. Your hands, eyes and every gesture you make can have the same or more impact in your audience than your voice itself. Be sure to take advantage of all these possibilities. Don’t abuse of your hands, but use them to add drama and attention to your main points and climaxes. Make eye contact with all those you are hearing your story, draw them in. Be plain energy with your body, transmit the feeling to your audience, look emotional and make everything sync with what you are saying.

As with your voice, give your body language a lot of practice. Use a cam recorder, for example, and watch and imitate great speeches around. Be in all the details, as in the end it’s what can make the difference.
